2023+ Civic Type R FL5 MDR Silicone Intercooler Hose Kit
Details
2023, 2024 Civic Type R Intercooler Hoses by MDR Industries, FL5, K20C
This hose kit is designed as a direct replacement to the factory rubber hose utilizing the factory lined worm drive clamps.
The rubber material used to make the factory hoses are often mixed with other materials to make them pliable and less brittle, which often makes the material weaker overall. Overtime, it can start to break down at high temperatures, causing the hose to crack or rupture overtime when the hoses are constantly going through the motion of being pressurized.
Silicone material has higher resistance to high temperature and pressure. Unlike EPDM, the silicone material stays stable and keeps its physical properties, even when temperatures reach or exceed 350 deg .F. The FL5 / DE5 applications tend to see 300+ deg.F temperature when boost pressures are 25+psi. Overall, silicone material is the superior elastomer to EPDM / NBR rubber hoses.
These silicone hoses are designed with 5-ply reinforced high temperature material, which exceeds SAEJ20 standard. Wire coil was also wound in the middle of the layers to prevent expansion and contraction of the hoses when pressurized.
