Our AMS Snailworks Engineering Team knows that heat is the biggest power robbing factor that plagues other inferior intake systems, which is why they designed the AMS Nissan Z Cold Air Intake air boxes to keep out blistering engine bay temperatures, ensuring that your engine is receiving the coldest air possible, which translates into more horsepower and torque. They then took advantage of your car’s existing intake tract that funnels fresh air into the intake boxes by designing air box openings that match up perfectly to factory air ducts.
SLOW IS SMOOTH AND SMOOTH IS FAST
The turbo inlet silicone couplers that feed air into the Z’s twin Garrett turbos need to deliver that air as smoothly as possible to achieve the best performance. Our AMS Snailworks Engineering Team designed each silicone connection to seamlessly transition the cold air into the next section, reducing restriction and allowing the turbos to breath easier. To take the design even further they added wire reinforcement into the construction of the silicone to ensure that they maintained their shape from the crushing vacuum forces of the turbos. With an average cross-section increase of 23% over OEM intake pipes, you’ll experience a noticeable boost in performance. The best part — Even with our larger silicone and MAF housings providing more airflow than stock, no ECU calibration is required!
MO’ POWA BABY
The OEM manufacturer spends a lot of time reducing turbo noise and airflow at the expense of horsepower. By allowing the turbo to ingest all the cold air it needs, the AMS Performance Nissan Z Cold Air Intakes boost power capability significantly. The AMS airboxes integrate with the factory front ducts so the system can gather cold air exclusively and pipe it directly to the air filters, resulting in lower intake air temperatures entering the engine.
Organically shaped airboxes and tubes allow for not only for perfect fitment, but allow for reduced pre-turbo airflow restriction. Featuring gradual bend radii and pipe size transitions, air flows unimpeded all the way to the turbo compressor inlets. To quantify this, our AMS Snailworks© Engineers ran dyno tests to determine the horsepower improvements seen at the wheels for both “with custom ECU calibration”, and “out-of-the-box” configurations. For our first test we performed a back to back test of the stock intakes compared to our AMS Cold Air intakes, with no changes to the factory ECU, resulting in a 10+ WHP improvement over stock! Our second test showed an even better 15+ WHP improvement when comparing both the stock intakes and AMS Cold Air Intakes when both are custom calibrated for peak efficiency. Torque numbers are also improved throughout the entire RPM range, improving around town drivability and low end power. The numbers don’t lie, the AMS Performance Nissan Z Cold Air Intakes are hard to beat!
PRODUCT NOTES
The filters use specially designed media that allows performance and efficiency to be restored to near new each time by simply using compressed air (30-40 psi) from the inside out, making frequent washing unnecessary in order to restore filter performance. For a deep cleaning from extreme environments, a biodegradable cleaner such as Simple Green or other mild shop degreasers can be used. Simply place the filter in a solution or spray the cleaner on the filter. Allow the solution to loosen the particulate and then rinse thoroughly. Shake the filter or use compressed air from the inside outward to remove residual water and allow a full day or two to dry.
