On 3 Performance has been designing turbo systems for the Coyote 5.0 platform since it was released in 2011. They first launched the extremely popular twin turbo system which people have been running now for over 10 years. Cars have now been into the 7’s utilizing conponets from that system now in the quarter mile with a proven track record. If you check out the On3 Quickest Coyote List, they started with 10 spots and had to expand to over 20 spots now to account for customers currently running 9.99’s or quicker! With demand from some customers specifically looking for a Coyote 5.0 single turbo system option. This is a less complex system and will be slightly easier to install for the average person building their car out of a garage. Out of the box, The On3 2011-2014 Mustang GT 5.0L Single Turbo Kit is going to have amazing potential and be geared toward those targeting 600-850 rear wheel horsepower (850-1300HP options available as upgrades). Don’t worry, we also have those covered who are looking to build 1000+ HP applications as you will read in the performance section. There are several turbo and exhaust options that you are able to select to hit your desired goal. Quick example, the test car was tested with full exhaust and the included On 3 2nd Gen 76mm CNC billet wheel turbo. Putting down an impressive 700rwhp on 10psi through an automatic transmission, turned it up to 15psi and were sitting at 830rwhp. At that power level, your looking at a low 9 second e.t potential 1/4 mile time! This system allows for outstanding street manners and yet very responsive and quick into boost when compared to the other T6 turbo system.
Hot side Spec:
Instead of making the stainless cast manifold an option like the twin system, it's made standard in the On3 2011-2014 Mustang GT 5.0L Single Turbo Kit. This system uses a tweaked version of the forward facing manifolds that have already been proven over 1300rwhp. One of the most important aspects to the turbo kit is that it retains the factory kmember and no aftermarket tubular units are required. Connecting to the turbo manifolds is a 304ss 2.5″ merge pipe to route exhaust gases to the turbo. In order to have optimal control over boost, dual On 3 44mm wastegates were integrated. This allowed the boost to be dialed the all the way down to 6psi and hold steady. Both gates are vented to atmosphere and this sounds amazing.
There are several options for downpipes that you will find in the optional parts section. When ordering your kit, you will need to select if you want the full 4.0″ downpipe or the optional race exhaust. The race exhaust is a bumper exit downpipe and does require you to cut a hole in the bumper should you decide to go this route.
Exiting the turbo, the downpipe transitions to 4.0″ to help keep drive pressure as low as possible. Many people know the Coyote platform flows a lot of air and valve float becomes an issue. So in order to combat this, a full 4″ system was designed through the factory suspension. You will have to remove the front sway bar but this kit will not require a kmember upgrade like most of the kits on the market.
Cold Side Specs:
The cold side design is trick, its constructed from 6061 aluminum and all bead rolled tubing. Coming out of the turbo, its 3.0″ tubing from turbo to the intercooler. Out of the intercooler a small 3.0″ section then transitioned to 3.5 up to your intake manifold. 2 options are offered for your charge pipe, one being a stock intake charge pipe and the other being for cars running the Boss intake manifold. Note, when ordering your turbo system, YOU MUST select which intake you are running so we ship you the correct charge pipe.
To mount the intercooler a custom bumper support that removes the factory unit is used. Constructed from 6061 aluminum to offset some of the added weight. This has intercooler mounting points integrated into it for a clean finished product. Coming standard with each kit, the On 3 Performance 4″ race core bar and plate intercooler. This has been proven to support 830rwhp and keep the IAT in check.
To make each connection, 5 ply silicone couplers are supplied. Then to secure each in place, you will receive stainless t-bolt clamps for the optimal 360 degree clamping. One other great feature, a correctly sized intercooler tubing that bolts the factory mass air meter in place. No need to spend $400+ on an extended range maf. The flange is already pre-welded in place.
Performance Specs:
The kit was designed one of the nicest and most powerful turbochargers On3 has produced to date. The new 2nd Gen On 3 76mm which features a CNC billet wheel, 4″ anti-surge inlet compressor cover and 3.0″ outlet. This powerful turbo has no problem keeping back pressure to a minimum with testing yielded 830 rear wheel horsepower at 15psi. At this time On3 did not feel the need to push this turbo option any further but are confident it will still have no problem making more power. Anything over this power level, it is recommended the customer to upgrade and go with the On 3 88mm turbo option. This is more focused toward the person trying to make 850+ rwhp and not your average street car. During testing the test car was DYNO'd with the On 3 88mm turbo and 13psi and made 810rwhp. Keep in mind this will be slightly slower into boost but easily cover the 850 – 1000HP span.
For the person looking looking for the most powerful and highest HP option, a T6 option is chosesn. However this kit utilizes On3's newest designed turbos with a cast stainless steel v-band entry turbo. This is going to keep the turbocharger around 12lbs lighter than most compatible units on the market. The turbo itself is more compact and yet still will flow the same volume of air when compared to a traditional massive 4 bolt T6 housing.
You will also notice a few different exhaust options that you can go with. Each kit is going to contain the full 4.0″ turbo back exhaust that gets you to the over the axle (catback) connection. We also see the popular trend of guys wanting to run the bumper exit style exhaust which clearly is a more race inspired option. This is completely a personal preference and selection should be made depending on what you are building too accomplish. Keep in mind if you plan to run full exhaust, you MUST have an upgraded axle back system. If you attempt to run full exhaust through stock mufflers, your going to create a massive restriction which will drive back pressure through the roof. On the test car, they run a muffler delete system so we have zero restrictions. You will also find options for an Over the Axle tubing upgrade that will eliminate the factory resonator pipes. This was also run on the test car and we highly recommend this option as well. You can select it while checking out in our upgrade item list
Details When Ordering:
When you order we must know if you are running a stock intake or Boss intake. The charge pipes are built to accommodate either of those options so please be sure to select when placing your order. As far as other options, we suggest: Boost controller, Vacuum block, 47# or ID1000 injectors, and a tune. These are the bare essentials to get your car finished and completely dialed in.
Notes:
*When tuning with a factory ECU, most tuners will require the FIC1000 or ID1050X injectors. Please consult with your tuner before adding injectors to the order.
